Corinne and JonAugust 3, 2013

It's not very often I get to work a wedding at one of the most private, secluded, homesteaded ranches in Jackson. But when the opportunity came to work with Corinne and Jon on their wedding at Lake Creek Ranch near Teton Village, I was very excited! I knew as soon as I spoke with Corinne that she was going to be a blast to work with. Little did I know that her family would be just as fun, funny and easy to work!

Getting married on her grandparents ranch was something Corinne had always dreamed about. Turning a working ranch in to a sophisticated, elegant wedding venue is not an easy task but between her, her dad and the ranch manager, the dusty cow field was leveled and make to look like a wedding venue. Check off that box. Now we have to make the tent fit perfectly in between 2 very pretty trees that frame the Tetons, keep the moles from digging holes in the dirt, and find the most ideal spot for the ceremony so that guests (and bride and groom) are not getting blasted by the hot afternoon sun.  No problem right? Right!! It came together beautifully. The tent framed the most gorgeous view of the Tetons, we refilled the mole holes with dirt right before the guests arrived, and when it came time for the ceremony to start, the sun was positioned perfectly behind the trees to give the guests a respite from the summer sun. We honestly could not have planned it any better. Now let the party begin!

After the ceremony, guests were invited to the tent for cocktails and appetizers. The tent was decorated with beautiful wildflowers and had a feel that was young, modern, worldly and chic. The tables had maps as centerpieces to signify all the travel the couple has done together. Once guests got some food and a drink, people walked around taking pictures on a nearby buckrail fence with the Tetons in the background. It looked like a scene from a famous western movie.  Then came the toasts which were very personal and heartfelt and ended with Jon inviting Corinne to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. Now it was party time. The music picked up and the guests took to the dance floor and the party continued well in to the night. What is a party without dessert you say? Well, to keep guests going, Corinne and Jon had a myriad of pies and coffee to offer everyone and they were a huge hit! The DJ's took over for the band around 10pm and the celebration continued.

Congratulations to Corinne and Jon!! Thank you for letting us to be part of your big day!

Moose Head Ranch is unique. Unlike other guest ranches Moose Head Ranch is privately owned, family operated and completely surrounded by Grand Teton National Park, providing guests with a panoramic vista of the Teton Range. Imagine riding with your family and seeing elk, bison, mule deer and antelope up close. Picture meadows of alpine flowers such as lupine and fireweed as you gaze down at the legendary Snake River. At the end of each ride relax on your cabin porch or the Lodge deck with the ever changing vista of the majestic Tetons in the distance, with no blaring horns or city noises, just the sound of the babbling brook and the laughter of your children as they play with new found friends. Point out the Milky Way and track the numerous shooting stars seen crossing the evening sky. Bond with your children without the interfering sports schedules, meetings and social activities that crowd your family life back home. When was the last time you played cards or checkers with your kids? All of that and more is there for you at the ranch.

Did you know? Moose Head has a breath-taking wedding and special event site available during our off season (Prior to 6/5 and after 8/13). The owners hope you will consider them for your event and they will do all they can to make it memorable!

Feathers and Wood Wedding Inspiration from Ruffled®

Lindsey Nickel

wood-and-feather-wedding-37.jpg

Winter seems to keep lingering here in Jackson Hole, so this winter shoot caught my eye. I love the wood elements and the winter warmth of this wedding. Feathers and Wood Wedding Inspiration

For today’s shoot, event stylist Jill took two objects and ran with them — you guessed it, feathers and wood. With a bit of help from photographers The Willinghams and florist Bare Root Flora, she was able to get a great deal of mileage out of the theme, coming up with this fresh take on the rustic phenomenon.

From the stylist, Jill: This styled shoot was inspired by the current bohemian trends and rustic romance of Colorado. Dramatic elements of leather and feathers were brought into the bride and groom’s accessories as well as in the beautiful florals, cake, stationery, and table settings. The result is an earthy, elegant, and achievable vibe with many do it yourself details that brides will love to make their own.

When it came to florals, Bare Root Flora wanted something textural and lush. We went with a palette of deep eggplant purples, wines, blush pinks, and creamy whites as a soft, feminine foil to the earthier feel of the leather and feathers. Gorgeous ranunculus, king protea, anemone, roses, andromeda, parrot tulips, sweet peas and viburnum gave the pieces the rich look we wanted–not to mention a fragrance to die for!

White chocolate fondant cake wrapped with edible sugar belts that look like real leather with metal buckles. The belts were textured, then antiqued with edible food color. The top of the cake is adorned with a single sugar feather.

We Found Love and a Flash Mob

Quinn and AllenSeptember 29, 2012

Quinn and Allen met in Jackson, spent time traveling together, and decided to have their wedding in the beautiful town where Allen is from and where they live. It is always fun for us to work with local's on their big day!

quinn

They knew they wanted to show friends and family a great time while they were here. It started with a Welcome Party and Pub Crawl to some of the favorite watering holes in Jackson. Friday took guests on one of Jackson's favorite activities, floating the scenic Snake River followed by a wonderful dinner in town.

This was all an introduction to how fun and amazing their wedding on Saturday was going to be. The ceremony at Our Lady of the Mountain Church set the mood for the beautiful, rustic scenery that was to come. And after the ceremony, guests were off to the beautiful views of Spring Creek Ranch for the reception. One of the first things we asked Quinn was how she envisioned her wedding day and the key words were laid back, good time, dancing... And so it was!  The band really set the mood that is was going to be a great night of dancing.  A flash mob even showed up before the night was over dancing to We Found Love by Rihanna.

The wedding day was so amazing they extended the party until the next day with a "Recovery Brunch" for guests. The guests and bride and groom were still smiling. What an amazing weekend!!

Jackson Hole Photo Shoot

by Stephanie

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have the biggest sweet tooth. I’m the kind of girl who could eat cupcakes for breakfast and feel no shame. But when this Jackson Hole shoot featuring the prettiest array of sweets hit my inbox, I came to the conclusion these desserts crafted by Persephone Bakery were just too cute to be consumed. They instead deserve a home inside this rustic chic photo shoot so perfectly put together by Katy Gray Photography and xowyo paper and press. It’s a shoot packed to the brim with inspiration, and we’ve got every last pin-worthy picture waiting in the full gallery here.

From xowyo paper and press….Our vision was rustic, wild and western, all while being elegant and feminine. We decided to shoot after the trees had lost their fall-colored leaves. Why would we do that? So many of the most beautiful weddings are held in the peak of summer or fall. But our shoot shows that you can have a gorgeous Teton wedding any time of year. We created a relaxed, rough, dusty, rustic look. Our florist describes it as dirty mountain chic, like a scene from a movie star cowgirl’s wedding. It’s laid back and gritty but simple and gorgeous.

The look of the shoot really started with the vintage Airstream from The Silver Bungalow. As Airstreams have become a big accessory for many weddings, this Jackson company has created a business around renting out its vintage Airstream. We wanted to show brides how they can incorporate an Airstream into a wedding, not just for pictures but as a staging area, as the bride’s dressing room, a lounge for the reception and as a decorative, showcase item. From there, we chose elements to capture a rustic, soft feminine look, combined with the beauty of the outdoors. A local rental company, Hunter Gatherer, provided a ton of vintage furniture, pillows and other decor to keep with our theme. And as the name suggests, owner Greer Terry hunts all over the West for unique pieces of vintage furniture and decor to accent weddings. Some of her favorite items in this shoot were vintage church pews.

Flowers were selected with rustic elegance in mind. The florist chose silver bowls to tie into the metal and silver theme of the Airstream. Those set the look from the bottom up. The Wyoming/Jackson Hole landscape color palette was the inspiration for the flowers. The silvery/white smooth bark of aspen trees dappled and cut with dark black swaths of color Inviwas mirrored in the flowers. The florist used locally cut dark (almost black) cone flowers and branches to contrast with the dusty pinks and the romantic, elegant look of the dinner plate dahlias and hydrangea. She also incorporated tons texture to mimic the wild grasses, sage brush, aspens and jagged mountain peaks, the rustic essence of our town. As for the cakes, a local artisan bakery, Persephone Bakery, created an artful elegant cake that expressed both rustic femininity and a connection to the beautiful floral abundance present in the Tetons during the summer months. They used a soft peach palette with subtle touches of lace to create an understated vintage element while keeping the design both simple and beautiful. They also provided French macarons to play off the monochromatic palette of oranges, pinks and peaches that reflect the colors of the setting sun in the western sky.

xowyo paper and press created invitations suites that paid homage to Jackson’s wildlife and color palette. The images have a vintage, throwback feel that are reminiscent of the Airstream era. But to keep things wild and rustic, they printed individual menus on brown paper bags and one larger one on a sheet of muslin. The gals at xowyo are always looking to keep things fresh and different, and the muslin menu not only served as decor during the reception, it’s also a sentimental piece the bride and groom can have framed to hang in their kitchen later on. The xowyo gals really wanted to show how some iconic Jackson images can be used in a way that is refined, fun and elegant, not hokey western that so many people are afraid of. The one thing us vendors lacked was an actual wedding gown. But out model, Tara, used her mother’s old gown from when she was married in Jackson 20 years ago. She spent the morning like an actual bride, getting her hair done by Kate Kelly and makeup by Tanya Crocker. They really gave Tara a natural, ethereal look without making her look too done up. This is the Wild West, after all. Of course, none of this could have come together without the help of Lindsey Nickel at Events, Etc. She kept us all organized and on schedule.

Vendor Spotlight- Trail Creek Ranch

Lindsey Nickel

Reception Location-  Trail Creek Ranch

Reception SiteMark Fisher Photography

I must admit, we here at Events, Etc. are rather biased toward Trail Creek Ranch. We just love it. It is the first place that I worked a wedding and the first place that Lisa worked a wedding. Alex, the property manager is pretty much the nicest, super helpful and most down to earth lady you ever met. The property has amazing history and surprisingly not a lot of people know about this little gem. A bonus is that it has lodging. There is not enough lodging for the whole wedding (unless you are having a very small wedding), but there is enough space for the near and dear guests who will be in town the whole week of a wedding. Not everyone wants a rustic-chic wedding, but those who do fall in love with Trail Creek Ranch. There is a functioning barn to get married in front of and guests can sit on bales of hay during the ceremony. If your guests are less rustic then you can bring in chairs for them. The cabins are basic, but perfect for getting ready while sipping champagne. Many of the cabins have a porch too, and my guess is that most people spend their time on the porch enjoying the views and crisp mountain air rather than inside. The site for the reception tent has sweeping views of the valley and Sleeping Indian mountain. I am getting excited for the summer just thinking about it all! It would not be an exaggeration to call this place magical.

Did you know? Trail Creek Ranch also has a swimming pool. This is a huge hit for kids and adults alike. What better way to spend the day after a wedding than splashing around in the pool?
