Maggie and AndyJuly 20, 2013

After my first phone call with Maggie and Andy, I knew this was going to be a fun wedding!! They had met miraculously on-line and fell instantly for each other. In the time since they met they hosted dinner parties, traveled the world, ate pounds and pounds of sushi and fine cheeses, and attended friends' beautiful weddings. With all this under their belt, it was time for them to throw a wedding of their own. They wanted a James Bond feel with a vintage, elegant, artistic flair. Could we make this happen in Jackson Hole...Of course!! Maggie and Andy specifically wanted lots of good music and especially good food (minus cake...they both hate cake). Maggie being an art teacher used her artistic talents to create fun, locally inspired welcome bags for all their guests and made cute horse shoe favors for all the guests at the reception. The week boasted of a welcome dinner at the Four Seasons, wedding party white water rafting trip, rehearsal dinner at the Kitchen, and reception at Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis. This wedding would not have been complete without a western inspired photo booth, exquisite wine, and tactical Oscar style spoofing of both their brother's during their toasts. After an amazing dinner, the DJ turned it up and the dancing began (props included) and it only stopped because they hit the venue curfew. I think they would have danced the night away had they been allowed!! Both bride and groom wanted to show their closest friends and family a good time in Jackson Hole and their goal was accomplished!!

Their elegant yet adventurous wedding week would not be complete without a dream escape and honeymoon in Santorini, the Amalfi Coast, and Venice.

Congratulations Maggie and Andy!! Best wishes and thank you for letting us help coordinate your amazing wedding!!

15 Years and A Road Trip Later- Anne and Dominic June 3, 2013

Pratically highschool sweethearts, Anne and Dominic had been dating for almost 15 years when they finally said "I Will!"

After reading a letter Anne had written to Events, Etc. describing herself and Dominic and their background, I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding as it had been years in the making!!

Anne and Dominic both love music which brought them on a trip to the deep south last year from the Smokey's to Kentucky and finally Nashville. They enjoyed this road trip so much that it made them want to come back for another road trip to experience the western part of the US. They started in San Francisco and traveled to Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce National Park, and Death Valley all on their way to visit and exchange vows here in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks!! All their friends thought they would do it in Vegas so this was a successful attempt to fool inquiring minds!!

Anne and Dominic chose Mormon Row as the setting for their special ceremony and chose the Reverend Paul Hayden to conduct the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful as it was only Anne, Dominic, Reverend Paul Hayden, photographer Katy Gray and myself. It was quiet, peaceful and just the right setting for this couple of 15 years. The reverend spoke of many things in the ceremony but the one that sticks in my mind most was of the 3 types of love necessary for a marriage to work. The first is Philia, the mental love. This type of love has give and take. It is a dispassionate virtuous love. It includes loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality and familiarity. The second type is Eros, the physical, passionate love with sensual desire and longing. It is a romantic, pure emotion without the balance of logic. The third and most important type of love is Agape,  which means love in a spiritual sense. It often refers to a general affection or deeper sense of true unconditional love rather than the attraction suggested by "eros." This love is selfless; it gives and expects nothing in return.

These words brought tears to their eyes and mine while the Tetons looked on in awe. The couple said their I Will's as Katy and I stood as witnesses to this great moment in their lives, they kissed and it was official! 15 years and a road trip later, Anne and Dominic were married. After the ceremony, Anne and Dominic invited us to a picnic with sandwiches and lemonade to celebrate this special day in their lives. They told us of their travels, their family and Holland. After a few more pictures at Mormon Row they were off to dinner at Signal Mountain Lodge and to start their honeymoon! And all their friends thought they would do it in Vegas!!

It was an honor and privilege to get to be part of their wedding day!! Good luck to the happy couple and we hope to see you again someday! Happy Trails!!

Rick and FabiSeptember 15, 2012

I know Rick and Fabi well. Not as well as Boyfriend though, they are what you might call "his friends."  When I heard they were getting married I was pretty excited to be a guest at a wedding. Then they asked me to help with the planning and I was even more excited.

Working with clients helping them to plan the wedding is a very intimate experience. We discuss money, family dynamics, health concerns and personal style to name just a few of the topics that come up. You see, to build a relationship with a client is to ensure a wonderful wedding. The more the wedding planner knows, the more they can anticipate the needs and wants of the bride and groom. The wedding planner really becomes an integral, personal part of the wedding experience. By the time the wedding day comes, I can anticipate that the bride will love the way the guest book is set up, but dislike the family photos display and rearrange it without calling her. I can anticipate that the mom will want a Diet Coke when she arrives at the reception and have it waiting for her. This relationship translates to a beautiful, fun and stress free day of celebration for the bride and groom. During my time working with Rick and Fabi I really enjoyed  learning more about these friends. I learned how much Fabi loves her job as a preschool teacher and how much Rick loves a tasty red wine. After the whole experience, I like to think of Rick and Fabi as "our friends" not just "his friends."
