Katie and Farzad’s Peony-Filled Wedding at the Harvest Inn Featured on Borrowed & Blue

Lindsey Nickel

A little rain did not stop Katie and Farzad's wedding at the Harvest Inn from being featured on Borrowed & Blue! The rain actually made this one of the most unique, romantic and unforgettable weddings we've worked on to date.

The unbelievable peonies were styled by Rion Designs and featured pops of pink and blue which are on trend with this year's wedding Pantone colors.  Although the reception was moved to a tent at the last minute, the end result was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined!

Another piece that made this wedding day extra special was the Persian wedding ceremony, including a traditional Sofreh. The Sofreh set up included foods, decorations, herbs and a mirror all representing a piece of the couple's new life together. This Sofreh was a labor of love and turned out beautifully.

Anna and Derek's Dreamy Vineyard Wedding at B.R. Cohn Featured on Brides

LovelyDay Events

We were so excited to see Anna and Derek’s wedding featured on Brides! BR Cohn’s rolling vineyards were the setting for this dreamy, summer wedding in Sonoma, California. Bride Anna chose a stunning lace dress designed by Maggie Sotero that was complimented by her colorful bouquet of roses and ranunculus.

Anna and Derek love traveling was a theme throughout the day. Their guest’s tables were named after states the couple had visited together. Anna also handcrafted a seating chart using a map of the US to help guests locate their table.

The bride’s advice to anyone getting married is to hire a wedding coordinator, "it will make your wedding day so much more enjoyable and stress-free!" We are so glad Anna chose us to help make her wedding a “Lovely Day!”

Addie and Jeff's Napa Wedding at Winter Creek Estate Gardens Featured in Borrowed & Blue

LovelyDay Events

A beautiful homegrown garden wedding in Napa Valley? We can't think of many things more picture-perfect than that! Take a look at Addie and Jeff's wedding day at Winter Creek Estate Gardens, which we were honored to recently have featured on Borrowed & Blue! The pictures are so gorgeous and if you're looking for more details on this purple and yellow homegrown garden wedding, read the full feature now at Borrowed & Blue!

June weddings are just the best! The weather is gorgeous, everything is warm and refreshing and it's the perfect time to get married, which is exactly what Addie and Jeff did! We loved the elegant, yet intimate backyard feel for their wedding vows, along with their reception. And the complementary yellow and purple color palette screams warm and fun-loving for the big day!

What a picturesque location, with the lush greens, white drapery and flowers that finished the look. Everything was so down-to-earth, with a homegrown wedding ambience all around. It was exactly what this couple was looking to achieve! And the rustic vibe came shining through with the great chalkboard wedding signs that were used for guests to see what was happening around the event. Nailed it!

How "sweet" is this sweetheart table for the happy couple! What a great way to start your marriage with just a little bit of privacy and fun for the two of you during the reception! How cute!

Lindsey and Florian’s Rutherford Wedding at Auberge Du Soleil Featured On Carats & Cake

LovelyDay Events

Lindsey and Forian
Lindsey and Forian

We were beyond giddy when we learned Lindsey and Florian’s wedding had been featured on Carats & Cake!

This past September, Lindsey and Florian celebrated the wedding of their dreams at Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford. The beauty in this spectacular wedding was truly in the details. Every special touch was thoughtfully planned including the vintage cake plates and mogrammed pillows.

The bride stunned in a delicate Monique Lhuillier gown. Pale pink accents were woven throughout the day from the bridesmaid's gowns to the Crème Anglaise cake and romantic floral arrangements.

Adriana Klas Photography and Reel Eyes Media captured the day so that none of these incredible memories will be forgotten!

Thank you Lindsey and Florian for allowing Lovely Day Events to be a part of your magical wedding day!

Lauren and Patrick's Napa Wedding at B.R. Cohn Winery Featured On Borrowed & Blue

LovelyDay Events

We here at Lovely Day Events were lucky enough to be a part of this quintessential California Wine Country Wedding for Lauren and Patrick, which we are so proud to say has been featured in Borrowed & Blue! Thank you! Everything about this wedding, that was hosted at B.R. Cohn Winery, was exquisite. Chic and elegant features were found throughout the wedding and if you are dreaming of your wedding at a gorgeous winery, than you have to read all about this wedding in the full feature on Borrowed & Blue! What could be better than having a wedding ceremony overlooking the vineyard in Napa?! It is an essential part to any Wine Country wedding!

The bride's peachy-pink bouquet of garden roses, along with ranunculus, complements the greenery around the winery absolutely perfectly! The white base palette that was used during the reception also complements the touches of color that was brought in from the flowers and the greenery. And we absolutely adore this unique take on a guest book. Instead, the couple opted to have all of their guests sign a wine crate from B.R. Cohn Winery that will forever hold a special place in their hearts! What a great idea!

Lindsay and Matt's Jackson Hole Wedding at Trail Creek Ranch Featured on Rocky Mountain Bride

LovelyDay Events

When it came to planning this couple's perfect wedding, being unique was at the forefront of their minds! They had decided to host the wedding in the bride's hometown of Jackson Hole, which meant they had a lot of familiarity with the area. Trail Creek Ranch offered the perfect backdrop to their vision and it turned out absolutely breathtaking! If a low-key wedding in the mountains is in your future, than you HAVE to take a minute to check out Lindsay and Matt's rustic wedding! We were so honored to have this wedding be featured on Rocky Mountain Bride. Head on over to the full feature, where you can read about all of the great details this wedding had! 8

While they had been to many beautiful weddings, their goal was to create the ultimate low-key and relaxing event that everyone would enjoy and remember. Trail Creek Ranch provided the perfect western experience they were looking for and by having friends and family participate in every aspect of the wedding (from the wedding officient, to the caterer, to the bartenders!), they were able to pull of the low-key and laid back vibe they were hoping for!

7

And what about this amazing vintage-style, teardrop trailer that the bride's father handmade?! It was converted into an open-air bar for the reception and was a huge hit with all of the guests!

What Does a Wedding Planner Do on the Wedding Day?

Lindsey Nickel

A common question that we get from brides and grooms-to-be is, "Why do you need to be at the wedding location for 12-16 hours, when my wedding and reception is only six hours long?" Fair enough, that might not seem to add up at first glance. The answer is it takes a lot of preparation to get the day ready for you and your guests. We arrive in the morning because it takes many hours to prepare and set up the ceremony and reception sites. Vendors start to arrive throughout the day and immediately look for the wedding planner because they have questions. Much of the job throughout the day is answering questions from vendors to ensure everyone is on the same page and handling last minute "surprises". No less than one hour before the ceremony begins, we want the ceremony site and dinner/dancing areas to be ready for the photographer, along with being fully prepared just in case any guests arrive early. Once ceremony time approaches we greet guests, get the ceremony happening, ensure a smooth reception and then clean up everything after the guests depart.  Our main job is to worry about your wedding so that you don't have to. Of course, we do this all with a smile!

150425-P-MOPOT-1797

Here is a  general timeline of the day:

  • 9:00 am - We (the wedding planner and assistant) arrive at the venue prior to other vendors. First we check in with a site contact to discuss any last minute changes and updates. We spend the next few hours setting up items provided by the client, handle last minute "surprises," oversee the rental delivery and set-up, answering questions from vendors, applying final touches to decor and tending to the bridal party. The list of responsibilities is really long and varies from wedding to wedding, but here are a few that are pretty common:
    • A storm is blowing in and everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) on the dinner tables is getting knocked over and blowing away. We run over with the catering staff and secure all the items.
    • The ceremony musician arrived and can't find the ceremony site, s/he calls for directions.
    • The groomsmen are covered in lint, this is no good for photos! We grab our lint roller and clean them up.
    • Two guests brought dates that you just found out about last night, yikes! We tell the caterer and make sure they have a seat at at table.
    • Someone must do the daunting task of pinning boutineers to the groom and groomsmen. We are pros at that! For some reason the wedding party and family are always terrified of this task.
    • Set up all the personal items that the client brought: table numbers, escort cards on welcome table, cute signs directing people around the venue, party favors at each seat, guest book, pen for guest book, basket for cards, family photos in frames (but the client forgot to take off the stickers from the front so we do that too) on the welcome table, place specialty drink signs on bars and more!
    • Answer a stream of questions via text, along with calls from the vendors to keep everyone on schedule and the event rolling smoothly. Do you see a theme yet? Being the point of contact for vendors and keep the day on schedule are large parts of our job.
  • 3:00 pm  - The ceremony and reception areas are set and ready for guest arrival and for your photographer to capture all those details you worked hard planning for the last year.
  • 3:30 pm - Guests start to arrive. We greet guests, assist with questions and check on the wedding party.
  • 4:00 pm - Ceremony - We invite guests to their seats, line up wedding party for their entrance, cue musicians and cue bridal party entrances. The bride goes down the aisle and we can finally take a deep breath and enjoy how beautiful this day is and how grateful we are to be a part of it.
  • 4:30 pm - Cocktail hour - Invite guests from ceremony to cocktails. Make sure that the wedding party and families have water during photos. Many guests ask where to find the bathroom and we point them in the right direction. We also collect the bridesmaids flowers and put them in vases, usually at the dessert/cake table, which saves you money on extra flowers.
  • 5:30 pm - Dinner - Time to eat! We invite guests into dinner area for dinner. This takes a while, because guests always go straight to the bar rather than their seat. Next, we line up the bridal party for the grand entrance and make sure the MC has the correct entrance order and name pronunciation. Finally, dinner starts to be served, and five guests find the wedding planner because they have food allergies that they did not mark on their RSVP cards. We find out what they can/can not eat and work with the caterer to make sure they are appropriately fed. Don't forget about the toasts! We make sure each of the toast givers knows when the toasts are happening and who they are going after.
  • 7:15 pm - Dance party - Let the fun begin! We coordinate first dance, father-daughter dance and mother-son dance. Later in the evening we cue the cake cutting , locate the toss bouquet for the bouquet toss and a chair for garter toss. These items are brought to the DJ so s/he doesn't have to run around locating the items. One person gets way too drunk and needs to go home early, we call the shuttle bus to come pick him/her up. While people are dancing we move the gifts and cards to a pre-determined location for going home at the end of the night.
  • 10:00 pm - Event ends - Time for your guests to go to the after party, but no one ever wants to leave. I call this herding the drunk cats. We get guests onto transportation or direct them to their cars or assist people in calling taxi cabs. There is no Uber in Jackson Hole and it is sparse in Sonoma+Napa late at night.  Clean up starts once all the guests have departed.
  • 10:30 pm - Vendors strike/clean up/break-down - We clean up the client's personal items and decor, supervise vendor clean up and make sure the the venue is looking as good as when we arrived.
  • 12:00 am - When the venue is cleaned up and everything is quiet, it is hard to believe that there was a huge dance party going on just three hours ago! Time to head home for a good night of sleep.

Courtney and Daniel's DIY Dream Wedding at Asti Featured on Borrowed & Blue

LovelyDay Events

Courtney and Daniel's originally dreamed of being married at the place where her parent's were married. Unfortunately, when the wedding date came around the venue was no longer hosting weddings. After searching around Napa and Sonoma valleys for a new venue, they decided on Asti for their DIY wedding. Not many people have heard of Asti, it is a quaint, charming winery that used to be a Swiss-Italian colony site and is not opened to the public. The original buildings and statues are truly amazing and make for a very romantic location for a wedding. Daniel's wedding tied in hues of orange, brown and white, dinner in a romantic courtyard and a dessert bar complete with M&Ms with Courtney and Daniel's faces on them! Guests dance the night away to the original tunes of Trebuchet. If you are a lover of all things DIY, than this wedding is going to be one that you HAVE to check out! Thank you to Borrowed & Blue for featuring Courtney and Daniel's wedding on your website and what a gorgeous wedding it was! Read all about the wedding and see the full feature on Borrowed & Blue!

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

LOVES

Courtney & Daniel enjoy DIY projects, and the two of them created many of the decorations and accents for their ceremony and reception. While their wedding was in the middle of May, the color palette that they chose for their wedding was reminiscent of fall, and looked beautiful in front of the mountains, as though they were mimicking the beauty of the peaks in autumn. Courtney's bouquet was a lovely bright coral, orange, peach, and white combination that absolutely popped against her white, lace gown. K2B Creative Photography captured a poignant moment of the ceremony, when Courtney's mother walked her down the aisle, as her father passed away when she was only nine years old. Following the ceremony, Courtney & Daniel had some gorgeous newlywed portraits throughout the vineyard grounds. Their reception was absolutely gorgeous, and a DIY lover's dream — a perfect ending for Courtney & Daniel's big day!

Courtney2 Courtney1 Courtney3 Courtney6

THE COUPLE

HIM

Daniel loves to brew his own beer, learn about the brewing process, and the science behind it all. Daniel also loves to build items from scratch, and be handy at fixing things around the house.

HER

I love sewing, doing crafts, and generally being creative. I love to cook, bake, and make peoples tummies happy.

TOGETHER

Daniel and I have been through a lot in our eight year relationship. After Daniel's long illness, we have laughed, loved, and just appreciated each other more and more. We love being together, but also enjoy cheering each other on in our separate hobbies. I think what makes us work is we are truly best friends, we love being together but aren't afraid to do things alone either.

Courtney5

OUR LOVE STORY

We met in college, but the stars were not ready for to align just yet. My college roommate introduced me to Daniel, and we stayed friends for over two years before Daniel made his move. For our first date, Daniel took me apartment hunting. I know, great first date, but it had to be done. We laughed the whole time and just had a ball. From then on, I knew there was something special about him. After making it through some hard times it only made us grow closer; if we could make it through that we could make it through anything. Daniel surprised me by proposing at the same site where my parents exchanged vows — my dad passed when I was 9 — which is a very special place. Then, he had all my family waiting at my mom's to surprise me with dinner. Our relationship has thrived on love, laughter, and being open communicators. Laughter has been our #1 and his sense of humor has made me love him more and more each day.

DO-IT-YOURSELF

We did a lot of DIY projects for our wedding, including making letters out of cork that spelled love, since I grew up around wine country, and we were getting married at a winery. We made a memory board to honor those who couldn't be with us. We made everything from wedding invitation, table numbers, thank you cards for table settings, and escort cards. We had help making boxes, out of old fence boards from my moms house, for the table center piece flowers, and our friend helped arrange the flowers. We gave out bottle openers as our favors, as an ode to Daniel's love of brewing beer. We had pictures of us from all the years we have been together throughout the venue.

WHAT'S NEXT

Right now, just enjoying either other and working to save up to buy a house — once we decide where we want to settle. Our goal is to move closer to our families, so we can enjoy more time with them. Maybe start a family of our own, but that is up in the air right now, and time will tell what will happen with that.

From the beautiful Bride… We originally met at UC Berkeley on a football game day. Jon was a Senior and I was a Freshman, but we didn’t start dating until after Jon had graduated. So countless BART rides to and from San Francisco were the start of our relationship.

Jon proposed at my parents’ house, in the backyard. I was completely shocked because I had planned a big rafting trip with all of our friends the next day — so on Friday afternoon my mom & I were making enchiladas getting ready for the party, when Jon called me outside because he had a question. I was in my bathing suit and covered in chicken (from the enchilada prep) — so needless to say I wasn’t prepared! It was the perfect proposal for us though, we came back inside and my family was waiting with champagne, and the next day all of our best friends were there to celebrate.

We wanted our wedding to feel like you were at our house. Jon and I (and my parents) LOVE entertaining and having people over for dinners and parties, so we wanted this to feel no different. My family is Italian, so the family style dinner played into that, as well as the long connecting tables. Essentially our goal was to make it a family affair. From Jon’s mom officiating the wedding to our little toddler cousins kicking off the dance party, it turned out exactly how we wanted.

I can never pull off surprising Jon, but he made it so easy for me with the first dance. For the last 8 months about every week he would come up with a new song he wanted to dance to. I didn’t really have a strong preference in the song, so I thought it would be fun to create a mix of all his favorites for the first dance. I sent all the songs to his friend who blended them all together and started it off with the song Jon thought was our first dance song. Before the wedding we took dance lessons, and learned a dance to the “fake song”. Jon kept wanting to practice it, but knowing that we weren’t actually dancing to that I kept pushing it off. Worried since we NEVER practiced, the day of we decided to just prom dance. Which turned out to be a good thing (despite looking very awkward) because once the song switched Jon was so surprised I don’t think he could have handled a choreographed dance! Ha!

The last “little” detail is our pup, Frankie. We rescued her almost 4 years ago, and our lives haven’t been the same ever since. She was a strong theme of the wedding — wine labels, thank you cards, signature drink, and also our ring bearer. She’s a wild woman so we weren’t sure how she would handle the ring bearer role, but she got it together (aside from eating part of her flower collar) and gave a perfect bark of approval once Jon’s mom announced we were married.

Ahhh, the final fall days in Jackson Hole. They are nothing short of magical. The air is warm and crisp, the aspen leaves are bold with colors about to fall to the ground and everyone is anxiously awaiting the first snow to fall. If you are lucky enough for your wedding date to be on one of these rare days, you are in for a truly special treat. Megan and Brad's wedding was on one of these days and you can feel fall and their excitement coming through the photos. Thank you to Rocky Mountain Bride for publishing their wedding on your website and sharing how magical late fall weddings are in Jackson Hole! 2015BOW_VendorProfile_Blue_120x120 JPG We are super excited and flattered to be a The Knot Best of Weddings 2015. This award would not be possible without all the clients who wrote reviews and all the vendors that worked with us to make each wedding spectacular. You can read the reviews right now, here on The Knot.

What is this award about? In 2015, only 2% of the 250,000 local wedding professionals listed on TheKnot.com have received this distinguished accolade. The Knot Best of Weddings provides a by-couples, for-couples guide to the top wedding professionals across the country. To determine the winners, The Knot assessed a sample of almost one million real reviews across the various vendor categories—venues, musicians, florists, photographers, caterers and more—that a bride or groom would want in order to inspire, plan and pull off their own unique wedding.
