Planning a BR Cohn Winery Wedding: Pricing, Venues and Tips From a Sonoma Wedding Planner
A BR Cohn Winery wedding brings together rolling estate vineyards, a 160-year-old olive grove, and the laid-back elegance of Sonoma Valley wine country in the heart of Glen Ellen. As a Sonoma and Napa wedding planner with over 15 years of experience and 100+ events under my belt, I've had the pleasure of bringing couples' celebrations to life at BR Cohn, and it remains one of my favorite Sonoma venues to design a wedding day around.
In this BR Cohn Winery Wedding Guide. You Will Find:
If we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Lindsey Nickel, and I’m a local Sonoma and Napa wedding planner and the owner of Lovely Day Events. Since 2010, I have helped stylish, fun-loving couples (and their dogs) plan destination weddings. Our clients want the ceremony to be outside, the food to be outstanding, and the dance parties to be epic. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

Why I Love Planning BR Cohn Winery Weddings
There's a reason I keep coming back to BR Cohn. It's one of those Sonoma Valley estates that feels both grand and genuinely warm, and that combination is hard to find.
The olive grove is unlike anything else I've worked with. Those 160-year-old French Picholine olive trees, strung with white lights, create a cocktail hour setting you simply can't recreate anywhere else. I watch guests gasp when they walk in every single time.

The Vineyard Pavilion is also your built-in rain plan. No couple wants to think about weather on their wedding day, but I always plan for it. Because the pavilion is covered, you still get vineyard views rain or shine, without scrambling for an expensive last-minute tent.

The estate gives your day real variety too. A ceremony in the amphitheater framed by vineyards and oak trees, cocktails under the olive trees, then dinner and dancing in the pavilion. Your guests move through three distinct, beautiful spaces, so the day never feels like it's happening in one spot. And there's a little rock and roll history baked in (Bruce Cohn managed the Doobie Brothers), which gives the estate a personality that more polished, sterile venues just don't have.

What's Special About a BR Cohn Winery Wedding
The Olive Grove
I'll say it again because it deserves its own moment. The olive grove is the heart of a BR Cohn wedding. A manicured lawn lined with 160-year-old olive trees, each one wrapped in white lights. It's romantic, it's intimate, and it photographs like a dream. It's gorgeous for cocktail hour or an intimate reception, and it's one of my favorite spots in all of wine country for a first look.
Sonoma Valley Setting
The estate sits in the heart of Sonoma Valley, tucked between the Mayacamas and Sonoma mountains. You get rolling estate vineyards in every direction, towering oaks, and that golden wine country light. It feels private and special, but it's still easy for your guests to get to from the Bay Area.
A VIP Wine Tasting to Choose Your Wines
Because BR Cohn is a working winery, your celebration is poured with their estate wines, and they make selecting them a genuine experience. Your site fee includes a VIP wine tasting for up to four guests, so you and a few favorite people get to sit down, taste, and choose the exact reds and whites your guests will enjoy at the reception. It's a fun, hands-on part of the planning, and it's the kind of moment that makes a winery wedding feel personal. Keep in mind that there is a minimum of $25 per person of drinking age for the consumption of BR Cohn wines.

So Much is Already Included
One of the things I appreciate about BR Cohn is how much comes built in, which keeps your rental list shorter and your budget more predictable. Your site fee includes:
60-inch round tables and white chairs for up to 150 guests. If your guest count goes higher, you'll rent the additional tables and chairs, so this is a great detail to know as you build your list.
Elegant night market lights strung throughout the event spaces, which give the whole estate that warm, twinkling wine country glow without an added lighting rental.
A one-hour rehearsal in your ceremony space, so the morning of the wedding feels calm, and everyone knows exactly where to go.
A bridal suite (Wedding Cottage) and a groom's lounge (Green Room) on site for getting ready and relaxing, so both parties have a comfortable, private home base for the day.
Easy for Every Guest
This one matters more than people realize. BR Cohn offers on-site parking (with overflow lots nearby), so guests aren't circling or shuttling from a distant lot, and the estate is wheelchair accessible. When you're inviting family of all ages and abilities, knowing everyone can arrive and move through the day with ease takes a real weight off your shoulders.

“Lindsey was the only reason we were able to plan our perfect weekend for 150 guests from Denver, CO. We both work a lot but had the vision for our wedding clear. Lindsey understood our vibe and made the vision not only a reality but spectacularly more than what we could have even envisioned our weekend to be. I would recommend her 1,000 times on here if I could! Whether she likes it or not, she is family to us. :) Her professionalism and attention to detail were truly a rare and special thing to experience. For both our amazingly fun welcome event and the gorgeous wedding, we only had to make two trips out and planned everything else over the phone. Both trips were planned expertly by her so we could make decisions and not worry about it back home in Denver. Beyond our vision, her suggestions for additional surprises for our guests were perfection and so helpful.”
What Ceremony and Reception Spaces are Available at BR Cohn Winery
One of the things I love about BR Cohn is that your wedding flows through several distinct spaces, so the day feels like a journey.
Amphitheater
This is where I love to set the ceremony. A large stage and terraced lawn framed by rolling Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, big oak trees, and the Sonoma Mountains behind you. It's dramatic in the best way, and every guest gets a beautiful view.

Olive Grove
With its lawn and lit French Picholine olive trees, this is ideal for cocktail hour or an intimate reception. It also makes a romantic, private setting for a first look.

Vineyard Pavilion
The pavilion is where you'll dine and dance the night away. It has wood beam ceilings and an open, panoramic view of the estate vineyards, and because it's covered, you're protected rain or shine. The wood beams are a designer's dream too, since you can customize everything from lighting to florals.

What Type of Couple will Love BR Cohen Winery
This venue is perfect for couples who:
Want an authentic wine country wedding with vineyards, olive trees, and mountain views, not a hotel ballroom.
Love the idea of their wedding moving through distinct spaces, from a vineyard ceremony to cocktails under the olive trees to dinner in the pavilion.
Care about wine and want their celebration centered on a beautiful estate pour rather than a full liquor bar.
Appreciate a little personality and history, and like that, this estate has real roots and a rock and roll story behind it.
Jack London Lodge and Sonoma Plaza are both just minutes away, making them easy picks for lodging, after parties, or a welcome event.
Want a classic Sonoma backdrop that photographs beautifully and feels effortlessly romantic.
Don’t mind a 10 pm cut-off time for your wedding, as the site fee includes the spaces from 4 pm to 10 pm.

“Lovely Day Events was hands down the best decision we made throughout our entire wedding process. We are from Minnesota and decided to do our destination wedding in Sonoma Valley two weeks after we had gotten engaged in Napa Valley. After a lot of research and knowing I couldn’t make it out to California before our wedding, we realized we needed a wedding planner before moving forward with any of our plans. I had interviewed about six or seven planning companies in hopes of finding someone who I liked, trusted, and had worked with out-of-state brides. Our last call was with Lindsey and about four seconds after hanging up the phone with her, I called my parents and told them we found our gal... My parents, husband, and I are sincere when we say; our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without her. She truly took our expectations to a whole ‘nother level.”
How Much Does a BR Cohn Winery Wedding Cost
The cost of a BR Cohn wedding depends on your date and season. Here's the current site fee as of summer 2026 for a ceremony and reception:
May through October
$11,500 Saturdays
$9,000 Fridays and Sundays
$7,500 Mondays through Thursdays
November through April
$10,000 Saturdays
$8,000 Fridays and Sundays
$6,500 Mondays through Thursdays
The site fee includes capacity for up to 200 guests; your event space reserved from 4 to 10 p.m.; 60-inch round tables for up to 150 people; up to 150 white ceremony chairs; a one-hour rehearsal; a VIP wine tasting for up to 4 guests; and the Wedding Cottage and Green Room. BR Cohn also requires a dedicated wedding planner and a professional caterer, plus a $ 25-per-person wine minimum.
Keep in mind the site fee is just one line in your overall budget. You'll also be planning for catering, wine, florals, photography, videography, rentals, hair and makeup, and a planner. As a very rough starting point for a polished wine country wedding, I generally recommend budgeting around $900 per guest once you account for the venue and your essential vendors, with room to flex up for a live band, lush florals, or specialty design.
Pricing changes, so always confirm current rates and policies directly with BR Cohn before you book.
